Privacy Policy for SMS Forwarder

Welcome to SMS Forwarder. This Privacy Policy explains how our Android application (“the App”) collects, uses, handles, and protects your data. Because this App handles sensitive information such as your text messages and phone call states, your privacy and data security are our highest priorities.

1. Core Functionality & Sensitive Data Handling

SMS Forwarder is a device automation tool. Its core purpose is to read incoming SMS messages and phone call states (such as missed, incoming, or outgoing calls) and automatically forward them to your personal Telegram chats or Email addresses based on rules you define.

To provide this functionality, the App requires access to sensitive device data. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell your SMS messages, call logs, or contact information to our own servers.

How Your Data is Processed:

  • Local Processing: All rules, filters, and SMS content are processed locally on your device.
  • Direct Transmission: When a message matches your custom filters, the App transmits the content directly from your device to the Telegram API or the custom SMTP Email server you configured. It never passes through servers owned by the developer.

2. Permissions We Request

To function correctly, the App explicitly requests the following sensitive Android permissions:

  • SMS Access (RECEIVE_SMS, READ_SMS): Required to read incoming text messages so they can be evaluated against your custom automation filters and forwarded.
  • Phone State (READ_PHONE_STATE, READ_CALL_LOG, PROCESS_OUTGOING_CALLS): Required to detect multi-SIM environments (e.g., distinguishing between SIM 1 and SIM 2) and to trigger automated alerts for missed, incoming, or outgoing phone calls.
  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Required to maintain a persistent background shield, ensuring the Android operating system does not kill the automation engine while you are offline.

3. Data Storage and Retention

  • Local History Log: The App maintains a temporary history of forwarded messages strictly on your local device for diagnostic purposes. You have full control over this log and can limit its size (e.g., 5 to 30 logs) within the App’s settings. Old logs are automatically overwritten.
  • Offline Queue: If your device loses internet access, the App temporarily buffers matching messages in a secure, local offline queue. Once the connection is restored, the messages are forwarded and immediately deleted from the queue.

4. Third-Party Services

While the App does not use developer-owned servers to process your messaging data, it does interact with the following third-party services:

  • Telegram API: If configured, the App sends your messages directly to Telegram’s secure API. (Please refer to Telegram’s Privacy Policy).
  • SMTP Email Providers: If configured, the App sends emails using the credentials you provide directly to your Mail server (e.g., Gmail, Outlook, Hostinger).
  • Google Play Billing: We use Google Play’s native in-app purchase system to handle Premium subscriptions. We do not process or store your credit card information.
  • Formspree: If you use the in-app “Feedback” screen, your email and message are securely transmitted via Formspree so we can read and reply to your support request.

5. Security

We take the security of your data seriously. All communications between your device and Telegram or your SMTP server are encrypted via standard internet protocols (HTTPS/SSL). Because your API tokens, App Passwords, and message histories are stored entirely in your device’s local encrypted storage, it is your responsibility to secure your device with a PIN, password, or biometric lock.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this policy.
